Health
and wellness promotion involves a comprehensive approach to preventing illness,
informing residents about healthy choices available to them and promoting
increased personal responsibility.
In February 2004 at the Council of the Federation meeting, Premiers agreed
to create a website focused on promoting health and wellness among all Canadians.
This website provides information on health promotion
and wellness, which is an integral part of sustaining our health care
systems. Through health promotion, Canadians can work towards preventing illness
and leading healthier lives. Premiers have come together to affirm their commitment
to this priority area to ensure strong, innovative, high quality health care
systems and a high quality of life for all Canadians.
Each province and territory is dedicated to improving health care for its
citizens. For more information on what is being done to improve health care
